RUS 0-1 POR
The first match of the game was between Russia and portugal, unsurprisingly like many times in the past Ronaldo has won the game for his national side with a delightful header from close range beating the goal keeper easily.
But being the host nation Russia failed to show any intensity in their attacks which can be understood by their failure to register a single shot on target during the entire course of the game, Portugal on the other hand have managed 5 shots on target.
One major drawback in the game for Portugal was their young left back Raphael guerreiro was left injured in the second half near the one hour mark and had to be substituted to prevent further damage.
Russia were putting good amount of pressure on the Portugal back line in the closing moments of the game which proved too little too late for the host nation as they have failed to test rui Patricio all through the game, they had a good opportunity in the last seconds of the game where Dhzikiya rose up well for a corner and had a free header but failed to keep it down and hot it well over the bar.
With this result Portugal move to top of group A followed by Russia In the second spot, however these are temporary standings.
