IPL is one of the popular topics among the Indians as it spreads excitement across the country. People not only talk about IPL, but they actually involved in that game. World’s most prestigious Twenty20 tournament is back with its 11th edition and creates warmness in the atmosphere with Delhi Daredevils captain’s appointment.
A consistent performer for Delhi at the Domestic level and left-handed opening batsman, Gautam Gambhir will act as a captain of the Delhi Daredevils team for 2018 Indian Premier League. Prior to this, he was part of Kolkata Knight Riders and under his incredible captaincy, KKR won IPL title in 2012 & 2014.
The announcement was made in New Delhi and for this season former skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders will lead the Delhi. In 2011, Gambhir started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils. For this season, Delhi Daredevils bought Gambhir for a price of Rs 2.8 crore.
The newly appointed DD skipper, Gautam Gambhir said, “I’m more excited than I have ever been”. Further, Gautam added, “You don’t play a tournament to make a comeback, you play to win the tournament. A leader plays to help his side win. Not for a personal comeback”.
With the help of Australia’s greatest batsman Ricky Ponting Gambhir and his team can make a challenging duo and after having local lad return, Delhi eyes on their first IPL final. Gambhir said, “Very excited to share dug out with Ricky Ponting”.
Further, he added, “I’m privileged to be captaining Delhi Daredevils. It is always great to come back home, where you stated your IPL career, cricketing career as well”.
