We want him: Manchester United supporters

Our reports from England are suggesting that Manchester United’s supporters have met the club’s manager José mourinho and requested him to handover the captaincy armband from Wayne Rooney to Ander Herrera.

Herrera is a fan favourite at Old Trafford for his unique style and the way he dominates the midfield and his top class reading and controlling abilities of the game which is second to none at the club.

Wayne Rooney has not been a major part of mourinho’s team plans this season as he has failed to start in most of the games, he is also not in his usual best and getting back there is really tough at this phase of his career.

Fans have already started writing to mourinho in support of the Spaniard, with no other player in the squad matching the  influential capabilities close to Herrera.

The 27-year-old is actually out of contract at the end of next season as things stand, and fans are hoping that he will commit to further years if he is made captain.

The Mirror have  reported that the Spaniard is in talks with the club over a new £140k-per-week deal which would run till 2021.

Herrera has garnered a strong reputation since arriving in England in 2014 when he bought out his own contract just to join United. There has no turning back since then, as he has become a regular starter for the club.

Should he indeed be made captain, that would certainly accelerate speculation surrounding Rooney leaving the club, who recently lost his England place and armband to Harry Kane.
